Japanese Penis Festival – Hounensai – A Fertility Festival.
I had the absolute pleasure of attending a fertility festival in Japan, the Hounensai at Tagata Shrine which is a small town just north of Nagoya. Below is a range of photos covering the festival, and a video – please note there is imagery that may offend.
There are many festivals in Japan, but perhaps one of the most exciting is the Penis Festival. There are many fertility festivals all over the country, but the one I visited was in Tagata. This one is held every year on March 15th. The festival is held to pray for a plentiful and fruitful harvest, but also for couples wishing to conceive. Click on any of the images to enlarge.
