Proposal Daisakusen
プロポーズ大作戦
Episode 2

This is what it’s all about! I really enjoyed this episode. It was a move away from baseball and into the class room setting. In this episode of Proposal Daisakusen, Ken doesn’t really remember anything about the photo he’s going into. Except that Rei was obviously upset for some reason. He decides to give it his all. So when Rei says that she wants some coffee flavoured milk, he does everything he can to get some milk for her. But Ken has a massive amount of plain bad luck.

I loved the comedy in this episode. And it was so adorable the way Ken went after the coffee milk for Rei.

I loved the way Ken remembered what it was like to be in school. For instance his comment about how it felt like it would be that way forever. Even I remember thinking that at school, it was hard for me to imagine a life without school. I think this show is very easy to identify with. Even if we don’t want to go back to our high school days, I’m sure there are still some great memories there. Our whole lives were stretching out before us, the possibilities endless. And I’m sure we all have something we’d like to redo, even just to see if we can make it turn out differently.

I think Mikio likes Rei, I’m not sure, but he always seems to be getting between her and Ken when ever Ken attempts to do something. Tsuru’s love for Eri is completely funny. Ken has lots of bad luck it seems, which is great entertainment.

Rei’s pressie, judging from the original photo, was some kind of intricate test. Who would get that, honestly?!!?? But I did like the effort she went to, I love presents like that. Ken also realises that he has a lot to learn about Rei, he doesn’t really know anything at all.

I do love the quote he wrote on the black board. It was a lyric from the song he was listening to. If you love the song, check under the “more” at the bottom of this post. I have some other links too.

“Hora, anata ni totte daiji na hito hodo sugu soba ni iru no
Look, the person who is important to you is right beside you.”

Overall, fantastic episode. I saw such depth, but at the same time it was some light hearted fun. I am really enjoying this series, I think it may grow to be one of my favourite j dramas. heart heart heart heart heart

Liar Game - Episode 2

Liar Game
ライアーゲーム

In this episode we see the conclusion and aftermath to the first round of the Liar Game. It is also the introduction to the second round of the Liar Game. All in all it felt like a bridge episode, where nothing really happens.

Bambino - Episode 1

Bambino!
バンビーノ!

Bambino is the story of Ban Shogo, played by the one and only Matsumoto Jun, a coutry boy who comes to Tokyo with the desire to be a chef. In his home town of Fukuoka he was praised as being an excellent chef, but in Tokyo he realises that he has a lot to learn. Still, he has a determination to keep at it to be the best chef he can be.

Bambino - Episode 1

To sum up this episode, it was OK. Of course one of the strong attractions I have to watching this show is MatsuJun, being my favourite Japanese actor (or my Japanese Boyfriend as I like to call him – however my Australian boyfriend doesn’t like it when I say that ;) ). Is MatsuJun enough to keep me amused? Well, yes he is, but I am allowed to be shallow some times in my life.

Not much happens in this episode. I thought the chemistry between Ban and his girlfriend was non existent. Luckily she wasn’t in it much. Ban smoking = two thumbs down. Ban being emotional and crying and stuff = one thumb up. Ban being full of himself = amusing as well. There wasn’t much comedy (something I love)… There really wasn’t much there. But I will persist, and hopefully it’ll get better.

This is promising to be my favourite show this season. I’m loving everything pretty much from the whole concept to the execution. I love the many layers there are to this story – well, the layers in the characters. These aren’t just two dimensional cliché characters, they are rounded with faults etc. and I can’t wait to get to know them better. If you know know by now, I’m a sucker for a good character driven story, and that with going back in time, another of my favourite themes, well, I was pretty much garenteed to love this show. This first episode is about Baseball, but having also seen the second episode, I know that this isn’t a show just about baseball. I love that we get to see the characters as adults – me as an adult now, it’s good to see some characters around my age, doesn’t make me feel so old – however we are also seeing these characters as high school students, which is great too. Brings back the nostalgia of those times.

I enjoyed the music, but that’s because I’m a real sucker when it comes to pachelbel’s cannon. I wish it wasn’t such a cliche wedding song because it is just a beautiful song. I didn’t like the “hallelujah” music though, it seemed just way tooo stupid.

I love the idea of the photographs as a medium to go back through time. Hell, I loved this show. Can’t wait to see more. heart heart heart heart
