I just looked back at my top 5 books of 2012. Now I’m looking forward to the books that I am super excited (or mildly interested in…) about.
The Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson
Sanderson fan girl here, my hand is in the air.
The Rithmatist is about a 14-year-old kid named Joel who wants desperately to be a Rithmatist. But he wasn’t Chosen, so he doesn’t have the ability to bring chalklings or Rithmatic lines to life. All he can do is watch as The Rithmatist students at Armedius Academy learn the mystical art that he would give anything to practice. Then Rithmatist students start disappearing, kidnapped from their rooms at night, leaving only trails of blood. Joel’s professor asks him to help investigate—putting Joel and his friend Melody on the trail of a discovery that could change Rithmatics—and their world—forever…. From Goodreads
I haven’t read Sanderson’s YA books yet, but I am looking forward to this one (There is also Steelheart coming out next year). It is coming out 14th May 2013 by Tor Teen. You can read an excerpt here!

The Crown Tower by Michael J. Sullivan
It’s the prequel to The Riyria Revelations!
A warrior with nothing to fight for is paired with a thieving assassin with nothing to lose. Together they must steal a treasure that no one can reach. The Crown Tower is the impregnable remains of the grandest fortress ever built and home to the realm’s most valuable possessions. But it isn’t gold or jewels the old wizard is after, and this prize can only be obtained by the combined talents of two remarkable men. Now if Arcadias can just keep Hadrian and Royce from killing each other, they just might succeed. From Goodreads
What’s that? It’s the prequel! It’s out August 3rd 2013 by Orbit.
The Tyrant’s Law by Daniel Abraham
I like totally pimped Abraham in my post about fav 2012 books. Yeah I want to read this one.
The great war cannot be stopped.
The tyrant Geder Palliako begins a conquest aimed at bringing peace to the world, though his resources are stretched too thin. When things go poorly, he finds a convenient target among the thirteen races and sparks a genocide.
Clara Kalliam, freed by having fallen from grace, remakes herself as a “loyal traitor” and starts building an underground resistance movement that seeks to undermine Geder through those closest to him.
Cithrin bel Sarcour is apprenticing in a city that’s taken over by Antea, and uses her status as Geder’s one-time lover to cover up an underground railroad smuggling refugees to safety.
And Marcus Wester and Master Kit race against time and Geder Palliako’s soldiers in an attempt to awaken a force that could change the fate of the world. From Goodreads
Looking forward to it. Coming out May 14th 2013 by Orbit.

Hi! My name is Carlie. I'm a wannabe published author, and the way to publication needs finished books, and the way to finish books is to write.

Nice list! I enjoyed reading the books you are interested in.
Thanks! I have just read a bunch more that I can’t wait to review.
