Here are my favourite youtube channels to watch at the moment!
Fictional Web Series
The Lizzie Bennet Diaries
I had heard of this one buzzing around on the internet for a while. WHY DIDN’T I WATCH IT? I don’t know. I’m stupid. I love Pride and Prejudice.
I eventually started watching this one, and tuned in a week or so before the big Darcy reveal. Man, I was glad I was there for that. That was exciting.
As the tumblrs say, this series has so much feels.
This show is addictive. Just a warning because, as I write this, the entire series is five and a half hours long.
In all seriousness, this is a great adaptation of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. It has modernised it, and so is told from the perspective of college student Lizzie Bennet. The actors in this are fantastic; the Bennets really seem like sisters, and it is the first place where both Charlotte and Lydia are actually fleshed out as characters. The way they have modernised it is very clever, and right now we are about to embark on my favourite bit of P&P, when we are going to Pemberly Digital. Ahhh, I’m such a fan girl!
I am not sure where I heard about WIGS first, but I eventually decided to try it out with Julia Stile’s Blue.
WIGS is a channel that has women centric stories, with professional production values and actors you have seen in traditional media such as TV and film.
Blue was the first one I watched and still my favourite. It is about a mother who is also moonlighting as a prostitute.
The WIGS shows have adult themes. They can be disturbing. Blue was very disturbing. It stayed with me. Thus I recommend it.
Non Fiction Videos
Flog with Felicia Day
I have posted about the Flog before. I love this show! In the Flog Felicia is usually either: exploring cool jobs or activities (such as crocheting and blacksmithing), Cooking with Robin Thorsen, and my personal favourite videos, playing retro video games with her brother Ryon. It was hard to choose a video to feature in this article. They are all good. I wasted a lot of time re-watching Flog videos. Oops.
TableTop with Wil Wheaton
My goodness I love this show! It made me take notice of Wil Wheaton who is a neat kick arse guy. I have purchased Munchkin. I badly want Star Fluxx, can someone buy it for me?
Daily Grace with Daily Grace
I am late to the Daily Grace band wagon. But I am glad I’m watching now. I enjoy how silly she is on camera. She has a good sense of humour, and is so comfortable on the camera which I imagine happens after years of being in front of a camera. She is the same age as me, and reminds me a bit of myself because I’m crazy too. Eep.
This is my favourite video of hers. Great advice for a beginner videographer like myself.
Speaking of my own channels, I have two which I hope to build up this year.
The SciFi sisters is a collaboration I am doing with my sister. Samantha is in the USA and I am in Australia. We don’t see each other much. Thus, we have decided to communicate via video. Oh, and we both like sci-fi. Check out all the videos at our youtube channel, or on GoddessCarlie.com.
A long time ago in a time far away I made some videos and put them up on youtube. Now I want to do this again and more. I don’t have the technology. And perhaps the personality. But I have the will. So let’s do this! Check out my first video of the new series, and check out my channel. More awesome videos to come soon, so watch this space!
Recommend to Me
Please! Recommend to me some awesome groups of videos to me. I would love to see some more science fiction or fantasy series. Tell me about your favourite youtube channels etc in the comments! (if you post a lot of links you may go into moderation. Be patient, and I should clear it out of purgatory as soon as I can.)
